Views Hacks not longer supported

'Views Hacks' module is part of this theme as a plugin but is not longer supported! Does this bring any problems for the theme (working, security ...)? Will there be an update of the theme to change this?

Thanks for your info!

Hi there Jagran:

Hi there Jagran:

Not at all. If the developers announced they will not update it anymore, then just won´t be more fixes or updates, so in the long term, if we find a maintainable alternative, we will change it.

Best!!!

Ok - but I'll be remembered

Ok - but I'll be remembered for ever in the status reports and if you go to modules! Always getting e-mails which tell there is an update for this!

Hi there Immoseb:

Hi there Immoseb:

Views Hacks is used in the compare feature of the site. If you disable it, then it won´t work anymore.

We haven´t still found an alternative solution for it, although we know the module maintainance was abandoned. :(

Best!!!!

Views Flipped Table

Hi.

I'm using RealEstate in one web site already in production, and we are also receiving the message that Views Hacks is no longer supported. I investigated a little, and found out that the only Views Hacks' submodule RealEstate seems to use is the Views Flipped Table module.

The Views Hacks web page on Drupal.org (https://www.drupal.org/project/views_hacks) says that Views Flipped Table "Moved to Views Flipped Table", a new project on Drupal.org (https://www.drupal.org/project/views_flipped_table).

I tried to install this new module on my web site but Drupal says that "Views Flipped Table is already installed".

Since my web site is already in production, I will only be able to test the installing of that new module later on this weekend. Meanwhile, I would like to ask if my first assumption (the only Views Hacks' submodule RealEstate seems to use is the Views Flipped Table module) is correct, and if you have already tested the Views Flipped Table module in the RealEstate theme instead of the unsupported Views Hacks module.

Many thanks in advance! :)

Hi there Reisquarteu:

Hi there Reisquarteu:

Yes, we need to test it. Just to avoid the confusion, the Views Hack module is still supported in Drupal 7. What it is that it is discontinued by the module maintainer so they are moving sub modules to new ones.

We will dig on it.

Best!!!

Results of my test

Hi.

I've just tried to change the Views Hacks module with the Views Flipped Table one but it didn't work as I expected.

Hoping to be helpful in any way, I will describe here the steps I followed:

1. I took note of all the settings of the Flipped Table format at admin/structure/views/view/browse_cars/edit/cars_compare (this will be unnecessary, as we shall see below).
2. I put my web site into maintenance mode.
3. I backed up the database and all the files of my web site.
4. I disabled the Views Flipped Table module.
5. I deleted the sites/all/modules/views_hacks folder.
6. I installed and enabled the Views Flipped Table module from https://www.drupal.org/project/views_flipped_table.
7. I checked out all the settings of the Flipped Table format at admin/structure/views/view/browse_cars/edit/cars_compare but they were the same as at the step 1 (as I mentioned above).
8. I opened the web page where the Flipped Table view is used but I received the following error message: "Notice: Undefined variable: header_row em include() (line 27 of /home/mywebsite/public_html/sites/all/themes/realestate/templates/views-flipped-table--browse-cars--cars-compare.tpl.php).
9. I googled about this error and found the Views Flipped Table module has a similar issue: https://www.drupal.org/node/1587838
10. I followed the instructions given in the previous web page. As a result, the error message went away but the flipped table view showed no results, even though I've selected some properties to be compared... :(
11. I rolled back my web site to its previous state before applying the Views Flipped Table module.

I hope this can help in order for you folks to find a suitable solution to this issue.

Best regards.

PS.: I know Drupal 7 keeps supporting the Views Hacks module. All I want is to get rid of that annoying warning messages about Views Hacks not being supported no more. Thanks in advance! :)

An answer will be highly appreciated

Hi.
It's been quite a long time since I read from you for the last time.
When will it be possible to have some kind of feedback from you about this annoying issue?
Thanks in advance.
Reis.

i have the same problem, i tried the views flipped table and i change the views-flipped-table--browse-cars--cars-compare.tpl.php to the default code and it seems to work.
The problem now is the compare button sometimes does not seems to work and i don't know why.
It seems to be a javascript issue.

i can add a car to the compare list but when i am trying to remove it i have the below error.
"You must have JavaScript and cookies enabled in your browser to flag content."

Hi there Shobu, here is the

Hi there Shobu, here is the fix:

Go here: http://YOUR SITE/admin/structure/views/nojs/display/browse_cars/cars_compare/style_options

Disable all checkboxes, except these 2:

- Override normal sorting if click sorting is used

- Show the first field as the table header

Apply and Save the View.

Best!!!
