Add variants (size, color) and add multiple shipping options base on weight

Hi,

1 - I'm new to Drupal. I want to add variants for my products which is the size and color options, also able to set the inventory base on each color and size

2 - I have more than 1 courier company that I'll be using. I want to set price base on the total weight for the specific order for each courier and able to give options for customers to choose which courier they want to use.

Any tips and advice?

If this can be customize by your team, please quote me the price.

Thank you in advance.

Hi there Ujai:

Hi there Ujai:

About your question:

1 - I'm new to Drupal. I want to add variants for my products which is the size and color options, also able to set the inventory base on each color and size

- Just ensure to create a new variation field. Check this post: https://drupalcommerce.org/user-guide/product-attributes-variations

2 - I have more than 1 courier company that I'll be using. I want to set price base on the total weight for the specific order for each courier and able to give options for customers to choose which courier they want to use.

- Check these modules: https://www.drupal.org/project/commerce_shipping
https://www.drupal.org/project/commerce_shipping_field

If this can be customize by your team, please quote me the price.

- We appreciate your offer, but we are so full of work right now that we are not taking any extra customization. We strongly encourage you to go to Elance (https://www.elance.com/) and post your need there.

Best!!!

I see, by the way, regarding

I see, by the way, regarding the variants, IMO you should make it ready made in your future ecommerce theme, would be a lot easier for Drupal newbies like myself to straight away use the shopping cart

Thanks anyways

more help

I am following the instructions at the link you provided above for adding variants. Can you elaborate on the "Modify Products" step? I don't see how to associate a different picture for each variant. I do see the drop down list of variants, but I am only able to select one picture and associate a variant to it. It seems like I should be able to add multiple rows to the Product area (picture/SKU/price,stock,etc), but there is no button to add additional rows. Can you elaborate on how to add variants to a product?
Thanks,
Jim

Additional help

Can you please provide a little more guidance or a video? It doesn't appear to me that the instructions you pointed us to for creating variations work exactly with your theme.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi there Jim:

Hi there Jim:

Sorry for the delay.

In this link you can find a detailed step by step setup: https://drupalcommerce.org/user-guide/product-attributes-variations

Now, a very Important part is that you edit the Product CONTENT TYPE and select Multiple Select for the product reference, as otherwise it won't allow you to select more than a single one.

where is that option

With your default install, you don't have the "Product Display" content type that the page you refer us to is mentioning. Since "Product Display" content type is not available, what am I supposed to use?

Where EXACTLY can I find that option to select "Multiple Select" on "Store C Product"? I cannot find it anywhere. The page you keep referring us to doesn't mention "Multiple Select" select either. A screenshot from you would really help.

Also, none of your examples products for this theme have any variations for me to follow.

Hi there Jimk:

Hi there Jimk:

Sorry for the delay and for the misunderstanding. The product you need to use as "Product Display" depends on the store you are working on:

Store A Product (Machine name: store_product)
Store B Product (Machine name: store_b_product)
Store C Product (Machine name: store_c_product)

And about the variants, I was wrong, it is right on the referenced product where you need to create the multiple selection field as described in the second screenshot here: https://drupalcommerce.org/user-guide/product-attributes-variations

Best!!!

please provide a helpful response

I am getting very frustrated with your unhelpful responses.

You have posted that same link three times in this thread. I have said multiple times in this thread that the instructions at that link don't work on your theme.

If you believe that they do, and I am wrong, please post a video of how to do it.

I am using Store C Products.

That link YOU keep posting tells us to use the "Product Display" content type to show multiple Store C Products. With your default install, there is no "Product Display" content type. Since "Product Display" content type is not available, what am I supposed to use?

Hi there Jim:

Hi there Jim:

I please ask you to forgive me If I haven't been clear enough with the answer, but

Please see this screenshot: http://postimg.org/image/7wc8p8c6b/

It is in the page (see the breadcrumb) Home » Administration » Store » Products » Product Types. there is where you need to create your variants.

That exact image I have just attached, is the one that replaces the thumbnail in this position of the Official Documentation of Drupal Commerce for creating an attribute (https://drupalcommerce.org/user-guide/product-attributes-variations), which is the link I've been posting.

http://postimg.org/image/ur5mft0x5/

Now, specifically about the Product Display, it is just a Content Type that holds the actual product references. The ones you need are located in the Content Types page, or the same ones you see when you click "Add content". So, in this case, your "Product display" will be: "Store C Product"

Please let me know if I explain myself OK now. Sorry if you think it is redundant to post the link again, but actually it is as detailed (for general use, of course) as I will never be as those are the module developers and official documenters.

Thanks!!!

how to add multiple products

I really appreciate the response and the pictures! It confirms that I have done the steps up to "Attach Products" correctly, per your link.

Currently it is the "Attach Products" step that I cannot get past.

Here is the Create Store C Product screen that shows my custom attribute field:
http://postimg.org/image/8882pfcsz/
Note that there is a "Create" button.

After clicking the "Create" button, this is what I see:
http://postimg.org/image/5xrsm55av/

How do I add more products (with a different attribute, image, sku, price, etc)? There is not a button to add more products.

Hi there Jim:

Hi there Jim:

For that specific step, you need to go to:

Home » Administration » Structure » Content types » Store C Product » Manage fields and there Select the Edit for the Product Reference Field (see screenshot)

http://postimg.org/image/my8mfhbhp/

Once there, scroll down up to the "Number of values field"

http://postimg.org/image/o5tqdh37r/

And set the amount that can be added. Once you save, you will see a button for add more products in the same page.

Let me know.

Best!!!
